About Us

Hello! and welcome to the best Welsh Wedding Blog, Cwtch the Bride!

Firstly…I’m presuming you are getting married and thinking of tying the knot in Wales? HUGE CONGRATULATIONS! you are in the right place.

My name is Maria Farrelly and its all my fault. I created Cwtch The Bride back in 2013.

I’ve been working in the wedding industry for many years.  I’ve also been a bride, attended hundreds of weddings but never actually been a bridesmaid.

I’m a wedding photographer!

My work has been published on some of the UK’s biggest wedding blogs and in many magazines such as BRIDES which is fabulous. However, this was generating wedding enquiries which took me out of Wales and away from my family.

I began searching for something a little closer to home to showcase my work. A place that will wow me with incredible Welsh weddings, show me where to find local talent, inspirational stories and some great advice for anyone planning a wedding. I couldn’t find such a blog in Wales, so I created Cwtch The Bride.

This blog really is a labour of love for me. It’s a place for you to meet other brides & grooms, share ideas and read about the pros and cons of planning a Welsh Wedding. It will also help you find that dream dress and suit, the right venue for your kind of wedding, where to honeymoon in Wales and not forgetting finding the best suppliers!  Such as a fabulous local photographer.

I have a great team behind me along with some of the best Welsh wedding professionals and some inspiring brides & grooms to be.  I hope this will be something you look forward to reading.

If you’d like to get in touch, do drop us an email

much love

Maria x

Ps. Wondering what a cwtch is?

verb Cwtch kuh・ch

Welsh word for an affectionate hug. There’s no literal English translation, but its nearest equivalent is “safe place”. So if you give someone a cwtch, you’re giving them a “safe place” :) Tidy!

  3. Hi Maria,
I am a Freelance Musician based in Pontyclun, South Wales, offering a variety of musical options for both Ceremonies (Civil & Religious), as well as for the Reception and Evening Parties. If I can be of any assistance I’d be delighted to contribute.

      • Hi Francesca, thanks for your interest. Probably best for us to have a chat to see what you are looking for. Music for Ceremony, Reception or Party. Maybe all? Have numerous options to suit most tastes, so if you could text or ring me initially on 07973 869621 or e-mail andrew@andrewjonesmusic.com . I will then contact you and we can discuss your specific tastes and requirements.
        Many thanks.

  4. We got our suits from Swansea. A really professional, straight talking shop called formal hire. It was well worth the hour drive! We never have to go there again as the shop offer home visits so all of the groomsmen will be measured at home. Perfect :):) x
