What was your favourite part of your wedding?

My favourite part of the wedding was the ceremony. I had had a nightmare whilst getting ready, and having my one contact break, leaving me to walk down the aisle with just one contact in! As the walking in music began, my hairs stood on end, I forgot everything that had happened, and I just couldn’t stop smiling! Seeing my Dad beaming with pride, and then seeing my future husband waiting at the end of the aisle filled me with pure joy. We also went a little ‘off-book’ with our wedding vows, and vowed to each other…to respect and cherish you throughout our life together, unless you become a zombie, then I promise to shoot you in the head!’ It certainly raised a laugh from the congregation! I also loved that we walked out as newly married couple to Less Than Jake’s “I Think I Love You”.

Tell us about your Wedding Dress

I bought my wedding dress from the second shop I visited, All About Eve in Newport. I tried on 5 dresses that day and discounted my actual dress as being too expensive ( The sales assistant advised it was the second most expensive dress they had!). After trying all the other dresses, and feeling frumpy in them all, I decided to try the Ronald Joyce Erin, with her BEAUTIFUL beaded back…. As soon as it was on, and I showed my Mum and bridesmaid, we just knew this had to be it. I could just imagine saying ‘I do’ to my future husband in that dress.

Who did you pick as your bridesmaids &/or best man and why?

My bridesmaids were both long time friends, Rachel, who I met at the age of 7, at primary school and Natalie, who I met age 11 at high school. They have always been there, though thick and thin. We literally couldn’t be more different, these girls are the cheese to my chalk!
Our groomsman was Natalie’s fiance, and our long time friend, Barney. The best man was my husband’s best friend of 18 years, Lee. They have been through many adventures together, and he had the best stories!

Why did you choose your venue?

To be honest, the venue was a compromise as we had butted heads over this. I had very grand ideas, and the hubby didn’t want anything too grandiose. After many ideas, we came across Portland House. It suited us both, as it has an amazing glass ceiling, and marble pillars, but is in the middle of Cardiff Bay. We weren’t after your average wedding photos either, so didn’t mind that it doesn’t have grounds.

Tell us about your photographer

Our photographer was the wonderful Maria! She was AMAZING. She calmed me down and guided us throughout the day. She knew exactly what we were looking for and even found a way to get us into the vaults for some spectacular photos!

How did the proposal happen?

The proposal was the sweetest! We were having an average Saturday at home and I went to the kitchen to start on dinner. Next thing I know, I hear “Go see your Mam'” from Steve in the living room, and then confronted with our mad little Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bob. He bounded in and out of the kitchen several times, when I noticed he had something in his collar. I knelt down to try and grab it from him, when he knocked me down to the floor with excited licks! There, lying on our kitchen floor, I opened the note. It read “Marry my Daddy so we can be a proper family, because we all love you”… I looked up to see Steve on bended knee with the most beautiful ring. The rest, as they say, is history!

Any DIY stories/tutorials you’d like to share?

I made my own brooch bouquet. I absolutely blagged it from the start. I used around 60 brooches in total! I bought a teardrop Base metal structure, and literally hand tied with jewellery wire each and every one of the brooches on. No fabric, and no fillers! I then sealed the back with heavy satin ribbon, and used a fine lace to wrap the handle and sealed the end of the handle with a brooch. I finished it just 2 days before the wedding! We also made the buttonholes, which consisted of used shotgun shells, wrapped with twine with a black feather and faux purple lavender sprig. I wanted no flowers at the wedding, so I also decorated my center pieces (silver candelabras) myself with a lot of help from the hubby and my bridesmaid Rachel!

What was your first dance & why?

Our first dance was the acoustic version of Papa Roach’s No Matter What. The song was absolutely perfect for us, and our wedding theme. I wanted something that reflected us, as we are both into metal music, but didn’t completely alienate the guests! The lyrics tell a love story, and includes the lines, “No matter what, I got your back, I’ll take a bullet for you if it comes to that”, which is pretty fitting, given our vows!
It was beautiful, and brought a tear to a few eyes!

wedding751 wedding756

In hindsight, was there anything you would have done differently?

Yes. I definitely would have had back up contact lenses! I probably would have had a tea length dress to change in to for the evening too, as it was quite difficult to rock out without tripping over my dress!

Do you have any advice for future couples?

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Don’t compromise on your day, do it where, and however you want. You can’t please all of the people, all of the time, so do something that YOU will be pleased with.

Kelsey & Peter’s Tiffany inspired Llanelli Wedding by Lloyd Williams Photography

Today we are sharing Kelsey & Peter’s tiffany inspired Llanelli wedding held at Sylen Lakes. All images by Lloyd Willams Photography

043

What was your budget?

We set a budget of around £12,000 but it’s so difficult to stick to a budget so we did go slightly over budget, but it was totally worth it!

038

How would you describe your wedding theme?

Modern Art Deco with a twist of Tiffany & Co. The main inspiration for the venue was Rachel A. Clingen, she does the most stunning decorations, I could only picture her designs when I thought of how I wanted the room to look.
061

What was your favourite part of your wedding?

The main highlight for me was walking down the aisle and having that moment of complete emotion hit you as you can hear the Bridal march playing and the moment you have been dreaming of all along has arrived and then seeing your future husband standing there is so overwhelming.021027
I also am obsessed with high heels, so after saving money on alot of DIY, I treated myself to a beautiful pair of second hand Christian Louboutins!  005
For the evening we had a photobooth and magician which was so much fun!

069

Tell us about your Wedding Dress

I always knew I wanted a fishtail dress that was fully embellished with rhinestones but no lace. I was obsessed with watching ‘Say yes to the dress’ and would envision my perfect dress. 008
I went to around 3 bridal shops, who all had beautiful gowns but they were all lace gowns and being a curvier girl, I couldn’t fit into the sample size 10/12, and I felt pressured to try on other dresses that I knew I didn’t want as they were in larger sizes. So I decided to stop looking for a while and re-think my options.

014I was flicking through a bridal magazine and seen the dress I had envisioned all along and it was the most beautiful Mori Lee 5215 dress. I rang around and finally found a supplier in Swansea who had the dress.
When I arrived at the Victoria Bridal the dress was hanging up and I instantly fell in love, it was perfect! But, I had a dilemma in that it was a size 10 and it wouldn’t have gone near me! After a long think I decided to just go for it and chance it, in the hope that it would look as stunning on me as it did on the hanger.

I definitely made the right choice, the dress was perfect and If I could wear it everyday, I would!

050

Who did you pick as your bridesmaids &/or best man and why?

I had 3 bridesmaids and 4 flower girls. Jess was my chief bridesmaid, she’s been my longest friend and was the obvious choice! I also couldn’t have imagined walking down the aisle without Lucy and Cath by my side.
052Peter had 2 best men, Gav and Phil as they have all been friends for years, and it wouldn’t have been right to have one without the other.
Gav and Phil were a brilliant choice and their best man speech was fantastic!

Why did you choose your venue?

We wanted a venue that was different and not the same place everyone goes, but we also didn’t want a venue that was miles away! So when I seen Sylen Lakes, I instantly fell in love.
The setting is just spectacular, and I loved the fact it was a blank canvas so I could decorate it how I wanted. Rachel and Nick were also fantastic and helped so much with everything.045

Tell us about your photographer

Peter hates having his photo taken, so I was really worried about who we would have to be our photographer. After looking through hundreds of photographers websites, I came across Lloyd Williams. His photography style was perfect! Completely natural images that told a story without having to pose constantly. Lloyd was brilliant, he let us get on with our day, and took loads of photos that nobody knew about and they turned out perfect!

How did the proposal happen?

It was our 5 Year anniversary together, and we had gone to Castellamare for dinner to celebrate, it had been raining all evening but as we left the restaurant it suddenly stopped, so Peter suggested going for a walk on the Mumbles pier and to get an ice cream.
Walking along the pier, Peter said to stop and admire the view overlooking mumbles and he gave me the biggest cwtch and told me how much he loved me. Peter then told me to hold out my hands, I held out my hands and he held the box infront of me and opened it to which my heart instantly stopped – the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. Peter never had the chance to go down on one knee or even ask the question, I just screamed in excitement!031

Any DIY stories/tutorials you’d like to share?

I did Art and Design in college and knew I wanted to do all the stationary myself. I seen so many Art Deco inspired invitations but they were all so similar that I designed and created my own. This saved so much money and I knew they were exactly how I wanted.058
I also went ahead and made my own cake, as I love baking and knew exactly what I wanted to make and also knew it would cost around £400 if I was to have it made by someone.059
I also purchased my flowers on ebay! They were so beautiful and as they were foam we could keep them and they saved me almost £500!006
For favours I made Tiffany inspired boxes for everyone.064

What was your first dance & why?

We didn’t decide our first dance until the week of the wedding as we just couldn’t agree on a song, but one day Peter walked in from work and asked if I liked ‘Adele – Make you feel my love’ and I instantly knew that song would be perfect for us!076

In hindsight, was there anything you would have done differently?

I rushed into alot of things, from excitement like suppliers and wished I had taken more time in looking around and deciding. But the day was perfect and not one thing went wrong, and I wish I could do it all again!

Do you have any advice for future couples?

Remember it is your day! Don’t feel pressured into listening to other people or inviting people that you don’t want there! 047Also, you will get told hundreds of times to enjoy the day, because it will just fly by! Make sure you and your future husband take half hour out just to yourselves and take it all in!

What’s the best piece of marriage advice you received?

Definitely not to go to sleep on an argument! Even if your super angry at eachother, always tell them good night and that you love them!078

What was your favourite thing about planning a wedding?

The wedding planning was over a year and a half, and I had taken the decision that I wanted to create and purchase everything I possibly could, as I couldn’t find anyone who could create my vision.
I loved creating our wedding invites, they were so different from anything I’d seen. I also decided I wanted bare minimum flowers in the venue, so I purchased an array of beautiful crystal centre pieces that I had seen on Rachel A. Clingen website!
Seeing everything come together in the last few days, all my ideas and the venue all set up was just magical!

Maria x

Casey & Aled CTB-019What was your budget?

We never really got round to setting a budget. We probably spent more than we wanted to, but we had the best day ever, so we didn’t mind!

How would you describe your wedding theme?

We can’t say that we had a particular theme from the beginning, we just went for things that we liked. We definitely didn’t stress about a theme as we knew it would all come together on the day. If we were to sum up the theme in three words, it would probably be Simple, Rustic and Relaxed.Casey & Aled CTB-013What was your favourite part of your wedding?

We can honestly say we loved everything about the day, there’s too many brilliant moments to choose from, it was perfect! We wouldn’t have changed anything about it. It was overwhelming the fact that all of our favourite people, each and everyone who had played a part in our lives came together under the same roof for us. Casey & Aled CTB-011Tell us about your Wedding Dress

I never really knew what I wanted, so to be honest I was very open when it came to looking and trying on wedding dresses. I was very excited though. I headed to Emma Philips Bridal Studio, where I picked up a lot of different dresses and tried them on (it was very overwhelming, and I made my mother, and mother in law cry!). There was one dress that stood out for me, which weirdly enough was the first dress I actually picked out from Emma’s collection and that was it! It was absolutely gorgeous, I was in love with it and every dress I tried on after that didn’t compare. Emma was awesome, she made the experience very easy and enjoyable for me!Casey & Aled CTB-008Who did you pick as your bridesmaids &/or best man and why?

Best Man – Jason Harries. Al & Jase have been friends since school and went to University together. He did a great job with the speech and had the room in fits of laughter. Along with the Ushers they did a fantastic job – even went to the church the night before to cut the grass!
Casey & Aled CTB-043Choosing my bridesmaids was easy, there was no question who they were going to be. I chose five of my best friends from school and my gorgeous niece. We had so much fun in the weeks leading up to the wedding (hen parties of course haha), during the morning and throughout the day, they really made it special for me!

Why did you choose your venue?

We visited various venues in the Carmarthen area, but we both set our hearts on The Corran as soon as we walked in. They showed us around the property and we fell in love with the grounds, the rooms and most importantly the wedding reception and outdoor patio area. From the very first meeting we had they were incredibly accommodating and helpful which kept me pretty much stress free throughout!Casey & Aled CTB-001

Casey & Aled CTB-046Tell us about your photographer

Sandra Ace, she is awesome! We wanted a relaxed and a natural feel to our wedding photos, as soon as we looked through her website and we knew immediately that she was the photographer for us. At our engagement shoot, she made us feel relaxed and I think Al enjoyed it a little bit too much! On the day she just blended in and we honestly didn’t even realise she was there, but at the same time she captured the day magnificently – just as we imagined! We both knew the day would go so quick, and it was more important to us that we spent time with our family and friends so we gave Sandra a limited number of formal (but important) moments to capture. The only real part of the day that me and Al got to spend together was the time we had at Laugharne Castle taking photos with the Castle and the Estuary as a backdrop. We both love the work she’s done and we constantly re-live the day by going through the photos.Casey & Aled CTB-020How did the proposal happen?

Writing this story still gives me the biggest smile!

It was May 2014, after a long rugby season we decided to have an extra special holiday and travel Thailand for a month.

The very first island we went to was Koh Tao, a beautiful small island where he had booked an amazing hotel with an infinity pool overhanging cliffs with the backdrop of the most beautiful sunset (little did i know, that this would be the place that would make me the happiest girl on earth). It was late afternoon, just before sunset and we immediately headed to the pool which we almost had to ourselves. We were just relaxing on the sun loungers minding our own business, reading our books, chatting away reminiscing and realising how lucky we were to be there – loving life. Al seized the moment, he went back to the room (to my knowledge it was to get the camera). I had no idea that he had been working for a couple months previously with a Jewellers custom building a ring for this very moment. As the sun was setting in the distance, Al asked me to stand so we could admire the spectacular views and sunset together. It was perfect. He turned and said to me “you know i always tell you that you’re the one? Well you are” and went down on one knee, I was in total shock, and asked him if he was serious. I couldn’t stop smiling! I was on cloud nine. The champagne was on order and we celebrated through the night!Casey & Aled CTB-015Any DIY stories/tutorials you’d like to share?

I had most of my ideas from websites like Pinterest, but i couldn’t put them all into action on my own, so with a little help from my mum & bridesmaids we got everything that I wanted done, and I was very happy with it all on the day. Casey & Aled CTB-028Our table numbers and name places were handmade and our table plan was handwritten by my mum on a mirror, it looked amazing!
It was all quiet hard but enjoyable and all the hard work paid off because on the day it all looked amazing if I do say so myself.

What was your first dance & why?

Ho Hey by the Lummineers. There was no question about this one, it was only going to be the song that we would have. It’s completely ‘us’ and reflects our personalities and our relationship.Casey & Aled CTB-044In hindsight, was there anything you would have done differently?

I can honestly say I wouldn’t change anything about the day. It was perfect for us. It was the best feeling marrying my best friend and seeing all of our closest family and friends having the best time and enjoying themselves! We want to do it all over again, we had massive post-wedding blues!

Do you have any advice for future couples?

With regards to the day itself the only advice we would give is that the day flies by, so enjoy every second and try to absorb it all together at some point if you manage to get a second to yourself.
We got married as early as we could (11am) just to be able to have the majority of the day to celebrate with friends and family and it was perfect. It didn’t feel rushed or pressurised at any point during the day which was exactly what we didn’t want.Casey & Aled CTB-003
What’s the best piece of marriage advice you received?

The best piece of advice that we received was that you must always love each other. There will be tough times but if you stay strong and love each other – the storm won’t last forever. Also, never go to sleep on an argument.Casey & Aled CTB-026What was your favourite thing about planning a wedding?

I did enjoy planning the whole wedding because I am Miss Organised but buying my dress, inviting everyone to our special day and the food tasting was fab, but overall seeing all the hard work come together was brilliant because at the beginning it feels like it never will as there is so much to think about and do.Casey & Aled CTB-035
