Colour Inspiration: Pantone- Rose Quartz and Serenity

How the heck do you chose the colours for your wedding? You could go with your favourite colour of perhaps his. If like me your other halfs favourite colour is orange then perhaps not. Do you fall in love with a bridesmaid gown and go from there? Perhaps you fancy being right on trend. Every year Pantone releases a colour of the year. It has a massive influence on the colour palate of the year and this no doubt filters through to weddings. This year was unprecedented they they decided to give us two colours. The amazing Rose Quart and Serenity demonstrate the balance between warm and cool.

Pantone- Rose Quartz and Serenity

We have all see the trend towards mix and match bridesmaids. Why not ask your bridesmaids what colour they would rather  be in and then go from there. It can make for a beautiful relaxed and rustic feel to your big day. It could also be lovely by mixing different fabrics such as chiffon and lace.

There are so many beautiful blooms out there that match this colour scheme. I love the fact that it really ties in with a rustic feel for a wedding. Keeping it natural and not too formal. Why not add more blue to your bouquet and then you can match your shoes to your flowers. I personally would never want to take these little beauties off. I adore them!pantone7

Lastly lets discuss our men. Like wedding dresses there is no right or wrong for the grooms. Their suits can be whatever colour they want them to be. Now Im not sure that I would be able to persuade my hubby to wear something as bright as this but you could take elements of it. A tie and a pocket square will be a lovely little nod to your wedding theme. pantone8

Colour Inspiration: Powder Blue

When it comes to weddings there are certain colours that come up time and time again and powder blue is a little bit different. It is not a colour that we come across everyday and we can’t understand why? It is so blinking beautiful! The thing that we love is that it has that little nod to bygone eras. Lets hope that this post changes your mind about this breathtaking blue.

Colour Inspiration: Powder Blue

Powder blue is just a beautiful, soft and elegant colour. It’s perfect on its own but even better with a splash of white or a subtle pink, making it a wise choice for your bridesmaids. What’s more, it has a really ethereal and whimsical feel which of course I can’t get enough of. This beautiful blue is taking the wedding industry by storm with its soft and subtle appeal, which exudes romance and elegance and all kinds of prettiness.

It is a perfect colour for different wedding themes. Think how beautiful it would be for a french, rustic or even a 1950’s theme. You can decide how much or how little you want to include in your big day. Would you be brave enough to go for an Ian Stuart Bluebird gown? We are in love with this designer!

The one thing that I love is the fact that the men can get some colour in their outfits. How handsome would they look wearing this lovely suit? Think of a lovely warm spring day and all the groomsmen lined up having their photos taken. Your photographer would love this look. Alternatively powder blue could look amazing of a winter wonderland wedding theme, the men in tweed suits with blue accents.

When I got married I wanted to have that wow factor when the guests walked into the wedding breakfast. The tablescape is so important when it comes to bringing in the atmosphere of the day. Its the first thing guest see when they see when they sit down. Don’t just think about the flowers, think about the crockery and the linens. even just adding a little napkin in the powder blue can make an impact.

Start by setting the tone of the day with the invite. The guests with take note of the colours that are on the invitation and hopefully think about their outfits and which colours to steer clear of. These blue invites have a lovely feel of romance and renaisance and I adore them.

Flowers, flowers, flowers. Now blue is not a colour your would naturally think of when it comes to flowers. Actually blue flowers are the rarest in the world and when you have a little look you can find that there are some amazing ones that will look stunning. (Hydrangeas, iris, forget-me-not and delphiniums.) I love it when they are teamed with peaches and light greens. They will look amazing next to any wedding gown and even better as a buttonhole.

Lastly but perhaps I should have spoken about it first! Accessories! This is the perfect way to add a splash of this delicious powder blue to your bridal look for the day. You could have your shoes, garter or your jewellery as your accent colour and they will bring a beautiful pop of colour to your big day!

I hope that we were able to inspire to think about a powder blue wedding. Its just so blinking pretty! Go out and buy your bridesmaids dresses and include this lovely colour in your wedding!

Colour Inspiration: Pistachio

Hello my lovelies. My chosen colour this time could be seen as a bit obscure. I have had a love for this colour ever since I bought bed sheets in my second year in uni in 1998. They just cheered me up no end, and made my room feel like a lovely place to be.  Which was just as well as it helped me get over the many hangovers (weekly), slugs on the carpet (almost daily – bleurgh), broken hearts (fortnightly) and occasional stranger asleep in the living room with a severe lack of hygiene (monthly).

But putting aside some serious questions I should’ve been asking myself nearly 20 (20?! Holy hell!) years ago, I need to show you why this will just add that bit of gorgeous colour to your wedding you may be searching for….

Oh blimey i do so love hydrangeas.  We had them all over the shop at our wedding, in fact my bridesmaids had just a bouquet made up of white hydrangeas. They are just so delicate and pretty, and the green in the them is just perfect to go with a pistachio.

Before I even start to talk about how gorgeous these look, I need to tell you what they actually are.  Pistachio Macarons with Rose Buttercream!!! I mean, wow! Without even trying one, I can I pretty much guarantee I could eat about 70 of them.

Eating them aside, the combination of colours here are just delightful. Imagine a table full. Loads of trays, full of these gorgeous looking, delicious sounding delights!

Ok. Im back to eating them.

Pistachio Bridesmaid from Debenhams

Pretty pretty prettiness! The drop of this is so lovely, as well as the neckline being so flattering.  This dress would suit pretty much anyone, but in this colour, its even more lovely.  Debenhams have this gorgeous dress by Debut for £99.

Pistachio Rose Cake

Yes yes yes, I know I have already talked about cake, but this is a bigger cake, and who doesn’t love having two lots of cake!?  You can find the recipe for this wondrous looking cake on the Daily Mail website. Look how lovely its is!

Converse – Office

Pisachio Cons (,21:2452066601)

Apart from the fact that these are awesome, more and more brides are opting for the casual converse look under their gorgeous gowns. There are many a reason behind this, but for me, it would be comfort (obvs) and to be able to dance dance dance until the wee hours without losing feeling in any of my toes. Office have these for £56.99.

Pistachio and Peach Shades Bouquet from Walnut and Willow

Pisachio and Peach Flwoers (Walnut and Willow)

Look at this most delicious looking floral arrangement! More flowers, I know, but the very clever Lola from Walnut and Willow has put together such a breathtaking arrangement here, with the most delightful mixture of colours (including the little pistachio elements), that I needed to show it off! And look how gorgeous the pistachio goes with peach! Just saying!

To sum up, what should, on paper, be a little bit of an odd choice of colour, when you see it in ‘bridal action’, I think you would agree the it really is such a delightful colour.  Not only does it make the most excellent colour for cheering up an otherwise depressing student accommodation bedroom, but this is surely a must for any wedding! x

Colour Inspiration: Rainbow!

charlieOur classic bride Charlie is here today to give us some inspiration on incorporating a rainbow of colours into your wedding colour scheme – bright and cheery all the way!

We have had some gorgeous colour inspiration posts up on the blog these past few weeks but this week I have decided to mix it up a bit, why stick to one colour when you can use them all?!

The great thing about a rainbow or multi-colour theme is that you can either go all out with wild bright coloured outfits or you can stick to plain white and add the ultimate colour pop with a rainbow petticoat, shoes or other accessories such as a hair crown.

Click any photo to see a larger size and, where appropriate, a link to purchase

I’ve also had loads of fun (and wistful envy) putting together a Pinterest board of rainbow colour inspiration, so pop over and have a look!

Are any of our readers planning a multi coloured wedding? If so I would love to hear more ☺

Charlie x

PS. If multi-coloured isn’t your colour then try one of these instead! :)
