We’re off to collapse into a Christmas food coma now.
We wanted to let you know that we hope you all have a fabulous holiday break, eat lots, drink lots and be fabulously merry in your Christmas Jumpers and novelty socks.
We have had an awesome 2016 (y’know, apart from losing a load of the worlds more incredible people and, well, that whole Trump thing!)
With two massively successful Cwtchfests and workshops, we will be back in 2017 with more wonderful content, new bride and groom-to-be bloggers and more brilliant Cwtchfest events.
Thank you for all being amazing! Here we are wishing you all a………….
AKA The Boobless Bride, Dawn was one of our Bride to Be bloggers from 2015. Now she is married we just couldn’t bare to let her go, so she will be officially joining the team in January as a volunteer, and we cannot wait!!
The fabulous Lindsay will be working her little tush off for some super exciting stuff we have planned for 2017! Keep your eyes peeled!
Maria and Anna
And Maria and Anna will be back, with more fabulous content, features and stories and exciting Real Weddings from some amazingly talented photographers in Wales.
Well, not so long ago, Maria and I had the pleasure of being invited to sample some of the loveliness that is the Hunter Lodges for an event; #ladieswholodge. We went along to see how they could fit into a perfect girlie getaway, namely, your luxurious hen party! And boy it did not disappoint!
We arrived and were whisked away to the beautiful lodges, nestled amongst the trees of the stunning landscape that surrounds the 2010 Ryder Cup Course of the Celtic Manor in the Usk Valley.
Entering the room felt like we were entering the home of Father Christmas himself. It was decked out absolutely beautifully, showcasing the lodge in all its ‘Classy, Comfortable and Cwtchy‘ wonder.
The living area of the lodge itself is open plan with vaulted ceilings, and high end kitchen and is the perfect space for entertaining, but with a gorgeously cosy feel to it around a burning fire and cwtchy sofas.
With four double en suite bedrooms, an indoor sauna and a hot tub with incredible views, you and your girls could live in complete lavishness .
After a lovely introduction from Marketing and Glenn Lewis who designed the interiors, we had a fabulous welcome in the form of the most delectable cocktails, made in front of us by the very talented Mixologist, Jan Kosler. A little taster of what we were going to be treated to later in the evening.
In the kitchen, casual as you like, was the amazing Executive Head Chef Michael Bates, surrounded by canapés and prepping for Christmas puddings!
I was roped in to help (ok ok, I volunteered!) and loved it. The smell of the orange, lemon, cinnamon, dark rum and treacle (to name but a few ingredients) was just Christmas personified!
It was thirsty work, but we got through it and thankfully Maria was on hand behind the camera with one of Jan’s “Vanilla Snowball’ cocktails.
We were all treated to our own little pudding to take home!
Following the pudding fun, we continued to drink and moved into the living room area to cosy up for a moment with our own fondue. Who doesn’t love fondue!?
And then onto the fabulous cocktail class with Jan! So brilliant, and so much fun to do with your girls! Admittedly, when making your own, you always tend to be slightly more generous with the portion control!
I want Jan to me my new best friend. I think he was a little alarmed by me.
In the morning we all headed to The Forum, The Celtic Manor’s in house Health Club and Spa, for a massage, a swim and generally feel awfully special! Then to top it off, we were sent home with a gorgeous goody bag!
All in all, it is just a fabulous place. For a group of girls, celebrating in a luxurious manner for a hen party, you just cannot beat this place! I want to go over and over and over!
Photography First‘s Edmund Shum spent his Bank Holiday in a rapeseed field to capture this gorgeous cwtch of Colette and Gareth on their enagement shoot. He is now suffering badly from hay fever, but it was absolutely worth it. Over to the bride, Colette to tell us a bit about it…..x

The Unexpected Christmas Gift:
Christmas Day with the family is always one to remember, but 2015 was a little extra special. After the last roast potato was polished off, the games had been played and the wine had be drunk, our stuffed diners left to their respective houses.
Whilst waving them goodbye Gareth asked if I wanted my last Christmas present. As he rummaged around in the Christmas tree, I was a million miles away thinking about our travels to Wales the following day to see his family for our second Christmas. He then held out a (badly) wrapped Christmas present. I tore at the package, trying to think what it could be, until I finally got to the jewel inside – A beautiful diamond ring.
I was shocked. I looked at Gaz, who had a tear in his eye. I asked if this was a ‘ring ring’ to which he nodded. I pointed to the floor and said ‘let’s do this properly then’ so Gareth got down on one knee and asked me for my hand in marriage. Shocked, stunned and amazed, I asked jokingly if he had asked my mum’s permission. No? After a quick call to one excited mother-of-the-bride-to-be, it was a resounding yes from me! The family turned the car around and were back in no time to celebrate with us. The champagne, hugs and excitement flowed. It truly was a Christmas to remember.
Fabulous story Colette and Gareth! We wish you a very happy wedding day at Oxwich Bay on 28th July. We look forward to seeing the images! xx
Today we have a Mid-Week Mini from the talented photographer Chris Morse Photography. He has a funny little story about forgetting something pretty important. Kirsty, Jon and about 20 of their closest friends and family stayed at Trevor Hall from … Continue reading →
There are few times in the year that bring everyone together in such a way, so when you couple the festive season with a wedding you know it is going to be a very special day!
If you have chosen late December as a wedding date embrace the Christmas spirit and use it as inspiration to make your day unique.
One of the very budget friendly aspects of a December wedding is that most venues will already be decorated. You can carry this through to your table decorations so it all pulls together as a complete colour scheme.
How could we do a Christmas inspiration post and not include those baubles that were such a hit from last weeks post, found here
You do not have to use reds and greens as a colour scheme to incorporate a bit of Christmas in your day, lavender crackers found here
Food is one place you can completely embrace the theme for Christmas. Cranberry fizz or mulled wine for pre dinner drinks, pigs in blankets as canapes, smoked salmon starter, Turkey dinner and yule log for dessert- sounds like a pretty perfect wedding breakfast to us!
If that’s too much maybe look at incorporating aspects into the evening buffet such as mini mince pies found here.
Or gingerbread men on your wedding cake…
A beautifully unique way of incorporating Christmas into your wedding cake, we love this gingerbread man cake, found here
Beautiful winter berries combined with pine cones, roses and that deep green make for a stunning festive bouquet. Inspiration found here
A quirky alternative to a summer floral crown, Winter berry head crown found here
We have complete wedding dress envy for this amazing Ellie Saab design, imagine it combined with a beautiful hooded cape a la Veronica Lake- SWOON
We hope this collection of Christmas wedding inspiration has helped you feel all festive- any great wedding supplier should be able to give you a wealth of ideas and inspiration. If you need any help to find such suppliers check out our Lush List.
One last idea… imagine your guests faces (young and old) should Santa show up for a little while for a photo booth! Ho ho ho Merry Christmas!
