Today’s featured vendor is the lovely Anna from Cardiff Invitations :) We’ve known Anna for a while and we’re thrilled to have her on the blog! She’s recently been chosen as the “Best Wedding Invitation Designer in Cardiff and Wales” in the Wedding Industry Expert Awards 2013, congrats Anna! We put together a little Q & A to introduce her and her business.
For our readers who may not have heard of you, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? :)
My name is Anna Carter and I run Cardiff Invitations, as well as being mummy to my two little cherubs (well most of the time!). I will be 30 (eek!) this month and have lived in Cardiff since 2005.
How long have you been running Cardiff Invitations? What made you decide to start?
I started Cardiff Invitations in 2010 after making the decision not to return to my previous career as a tax accountant after the birth of my daughter. I had made wedding stationery for 5 years before that but just as a hobby for family and friends. I wanted the opportunity to combine my passion for wedding stationery with a more flexible lifestyle for my family.
What kind of products does Cardiff Invitations offer?
We produce all kinds of wedding and special event stationery from Save the Dates and invitations to tableplans and thank you cards. We offer a bespoke design service at no additional cost.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
This one is easy – getting to talk and hear about wedding plans all the time! (editors note: we know this feeling very well! :) ) I feel very privileged to play a part in people’s big day. I remember how important my wedding was to me and want to help my clients make their day even more special. Trust me, people are much happier to see me now I’m a wedding stationer compared to when I was a tax accountant!
What can your clients expect from you?
Clients can expect from me a friendly service, advice where needed and a total commitment to my work. I don’t mind how many questions a bride has, it’s their big day and they should expect to be happy with all their plans. Finally they can expect totally awesome wedding stationery!
How much should couples budget for your stationery?
The day invitations in my design ranges which are on the website are priced between £1.75 and £3.95 per invite. If I do a bespoke design for a customer there is no charge for the design service and I just work out a price based on the elements used. I have included a price list on my website so people can get a clear idea of prices as I understand how difficult budgeting for a wedding is. If a couple wants all their stationery from us, I build up a package however I don’t offer any standard packages as I find each couple wants different items and in different quantities. We don’t have a minimum order quantity or value.
What makes you different to other stationers?
I would say that our personal service is what makes us stand out from other stationers. I love nothing better than sitting down with a couple and designing their stationery with them so they get something truly unique and special to them. I love a challenge so always say to customers that if I can find it, I will use it in our designs. I recently had a bride come to me because she wanted some leopard print wedding invitations and couldn’t find much – I used a leopard print vellum to give her invitations the wow factor!
What’s your favourite thing about working in Wales?
My favourite thing about working in Wales is the mix of people that I get to meet and the variation and breadth of ideas that brings. I love the flexibility and constant challenges that brings. I am happy to go to couples’ houses to do consultations and have seen a lot more of South Wales since starting the business.
