Colour Inspiration: Pistachio

Hello my lovelies. My chosen colour this time could be seen as a bit obscure. I have had a love for this colour ever since I bought bed sheets in my second year in uni in 1998. They just cheered me up no end, and made my room feel like a lovely place to be.  Which was just as well as it helped me get over the many hangovers (weekly), slugs on the carpet (almost daily – bleurgh), broken hearts (fortnightly) and occasional stranger asleep in the living room with a severe lack of hygiene (monthly).

But putting aside some serious questions I should’ve been asking myself nearly 20 (20?! Holy hell!) years ago, I need to show you why this will just add that bit of gorgeous colour to your wedding you may be searching for….

Pistachio Hydrangeas

Oh blimey i do so love hydrangeas.  We had them all over the shop at our wedding, in fact my bridesmaids had just a bouquet made up of white hydrangeas. They are just so delicate and pretty, and the green in the them is just perfect to go with a pistachio.

Before I even start to talk about how gorgeous these look, I need to tell you what they actually are.  Pistachio Macarons with Rose Buttercream!!! I mean, wow! Without even trying one, I can I pretty much guarantee I could eat about 70 of them.

Eating them aside, the combination of colours here are just delightful. Imagine a table full. Loads of trays, full of these gorgeous looking, delicious sounding delights!

Ok. Im back to eating them.

Pistachio Bridesmaid from Debenhams

Debut Pisachio BMaid http-::www.debenhams.com:webapp:wcs:stores:servlet:prod_10701_10001_008010410434_-1

Pretty pretty prettiness! The drop of this is so lovely, as well as the neckline being so flattering.  This dress would suit pretty much anyone, but in this colour, its even more lovely.  Debenhams have this gorgeous dress by Debut for £99.

Pistachio Rose Cake

Yes yes yes, I know I have already talked about cake, but this is a bigger cake, and who doesn’t love having two lots of cake!?  You can find the recipe for this wondrous looking cake on the Daily Mail website. Look how lovely its is!

Converse – Office

Pisachio Cons (http-::www.office.co.uk:view:product:office_catalog:5,21:2452066601)

Apart from the fact that these are awesome, more and more brides are opting for the casual converse look under their gorgeous gowns. There are many a reason behind this, but for me, it would be comfort (obvs) and to be able to dance dance dance until the wee hours without losing feeling in any of my toes. Office have these for £56.99.

Pistachio and Peach Shades Bouquet from Walnut and Willow

Pisachio and Peach Flwoers (Walnut and Willow)

Look at this most delicious looking floral arrangement! More flowers, I know, but the very clever Lola from Walnut and Willow has put together such a breathtaking arrangement here, with the most delightful mixture of colours (including the little pistachio elements), that I needed to show it off! And look how gorgeous the pistachio goes with peach! Just saying!

To sum up, what should, on paper, be a little bit of an odd choice of colour, when you see it in ‘bridal action’, I think you would agree the it really is such a delightful colour.  Not only does it make the most excellent colour for cheering up an otherwise depressing student accommodation bedroom, but this is surely a must for any wedding! x

Colour Inspiration: Peach

Today I decided to give quite a controversial colour a whirl. Colour Inspiration: Peach.
Is just so pretty, I refuse to believe that it has been packed up into a chest along side St Elmos Fire, 16 Candals and The Breakfast Club.  It will not disappear with Martika and Dave Lee Roth’s solo career. I refuse to believe it will be left in a draw alongside my leg warmers and fish net finger less gloves.
Peach is light and happy and deserves to be brought back.  I agree that many things from the 1980s should stay right there, but peach?  Peach is not one of them.  Read on and find out why.

Colour Inspiration: Peach

We know, we know. Peach! It immediately conjures up hideous poofy 1980’s bridesmaid dresses with matching over sized hats, squashing down a fresh perm. Either that, or one of those toilet roll doll cover things, that everyone’s Nana had. You know, to make the toilet roll fancy.

But seriously – Peach! Its beautiful.

Its so soft and gentle and gives a natural feel and look. Its slightly dreamy and conjures up images of ethereal, daisy chained bridesmaids, dancing through a wheat field with pollen floating around, on a warm summers day.

It definitely wouldn’t rain if you wore peach!
(*disclaimer* Cwtch The Bride can only dream like the rest of us that the sun will shine on all you lovely Brides and Grooms.  We have no actual power over the weather)

Pair with some lovely hessian and lace, and you’re all set for that gorgeous vintage country feel.

The Glanusk Estate: The Location For Cwtchfest 2016

I’m thrilled to be collaborating with the amazing Glanusk Estate on this years Cwtchfest. I’m still pinching myself that this crazy idea I had of organising a large wedding festival in Wales is not only happening again, but that it’s growing… on an epic scale!

Today I wanted to share with you the reasons why I chose The Glanusk Estate and why I think it should be on your list of ‘must-see’ venues for your wedding.~ Maria.glanusk

The Glanusk Estate is one of the largest privately owned Estates in Wales and is situated in the beautiful countryside of the Usk Valley, Crickhowell, South Wales in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Cornwall and shop 127Why did I choose The Glanusk Estate for Cwtchfest?

Thats easy. I only work with companies that I would use myself if planning a wedding. Having photographed hundreds of weddings over the years, I’ve worked alongside MANY venues and suppliers. Some are incredible and some should not be working in this industry (don’t worry, they won’t ever appear on this blog). For me, professionalism and personal recommendations are everything.

The Glanusk Estate approached me last year when I was in the midst of organising last years festival. I honestly nearly fell of my chair when I read their email.

If you don’t know much about the Estate. Let me share a few things. The Glanusk Estate hosts the world famous Greenman Festival, Spartan Race UK 2015, as well as numerous TV programs and commercials. It is quite simply one of the best locations to host a wedding in Wales and they love Cwtch The Bride.

Cwtchfest-poster-New-logo-550x777

So why chose The Glanusk Estate for your wedding?

Like me, the team at Glanusk really do love a good wedding! You are not part of a production line either. They really do go that extra mile which means so much when planning a wedding.

They are super friendly, personal and offer a really bespoke service.  The Glanusk Estate team pull out all the stops to make your wedding day memorable and a wonderful experience not just for yourselves but also your guests.

Whether you are having an intimate celebration for 20 or 30 guests, or a larger party, they really do have the perfect backdrop for your special day.Claire_Ian0206

Pricing

Having photographed in many of the wedding venues across Wales, what struck me as a massive selling point here (besides the epic views) is their pricing. The Glanusk Estate does not charge corkage!  Most venues do which is where the pricing can start to rocket. There is nothing worse than falling in love with a venue and then sitting down with the price list and finding out all the ‘extras’ you HAVE to pay to personalise your day exceeds your budget.

At Glanusk, the bride and groom can not only make their own choice of alcohol but can also select their own choice of caterer and marquee company rather than being restricted to a small selection offered by many venues. That alone is worth calling the team to arrange a site visit!

Do I have to hire the entire Estate for my wedding?

no, no, no :)

The beauty of this location is that you have a choice of four areas on the estate. Each has a totally different feel and charm of its own.

We’ll be going into more detail about each area over the coming weeks but to give you a brief outline. There are four main areas to consider.

There is so much more about The Glanusk Estate that I want to share with you but I’m going to have to do that over a series of posts.

Also, don’t just take my word for it, come along on Sunday 17th April to Cwtchfest. Our tickets are selling like hot welshcakes and we’d love to see you there. It really is going to be the wedding event of the year!
