CWTCHFEST: Sunday 19th April 2015

Here it is! we can finally reveal what we’ve spent months planning. Wales is getting its First Wedding Festival and we are organising it!

Cwtchfest is Wales’ first wedding festival.

For anyone planning a welsh wedding, be it outdoor, festival, vintage or modern in style, we’ve got it covered!

On Sunday 19th April 2015, a beautiful meadow near Cowbridge will play host to our event. Gates open at 11am and we have a jam-packed day organised. With free onsite parking, our event will feature live music & DJ, workshops for all you DIY brides, An exhibition marquee with over 50 of wales’ finest wedding suppliers (11-4pm), talks from wedding experts, food & drink PLUS lots more.

As the sun goes down, relax and enjoy more live entertainment & DJ, have fun in our photo booth and see our giant LOVE letters, Sounds great doesn’t it?!!

We are thrilled to be collaborating with some of the best wedding companies in Wales to bring you this unique event and we’d love to invite you to join us.

Where is it taking place?

The lovely people at Bluebell Meadows have given us use of their beautiful meadow in Llancarfan (3 miles from Cowbridge).

We also have the amazing Cariad Canvas & Wedding tipi providing their Stretch Tents,Tipis, bell tents and festival flags.

County Marquees are also on board (hurray!) and they will be providing one of their wonderful marquees to showcase just how fabulous an outdoor wedding can be. They will also house our 50+ wedding exhibitors.

Live music

The Igency are working with us to provide a variety of live acts to keep you entertained throughout the day and if you happened to watch The Voice last night, we can also confirm Shellyann (from Ilectric) will be performing and yes… you can also book her for your wedding too!


The fabulous wedding planner, Emma from Sylvie & Joan will be managing our workshops and we have some great DIY projects for you to try. Also, in the lead up to the festival, Emma will be our guest blogger, sharing some essential planning advice! emma-butler

Since our lovely Welsh Wedding blog started back in 2013, we regularly receive lots of emails from engaged couples asking us to recommend venues & suppliers throughout Wales.

This got us thinking… Why don’t we create a super cool directory for you all?  A new section to the blog that features all the cool suppliers we love PLUS the ones that you (past Brides & Grooms) also recommend!

We want to help make finding suppliers easy for you. We want to save you hours of scouring the internet. Our LUSH LIST will point you in the direction of some of Wales’ finest wedding professionals. Companies that we have all used for our own weddings, suppliers we have worked with professionally at weddings, experts we’ve already featured on our blog as well as new and upcoming businesses that we feel offer something truly unique.

 So… as we continue beavering away behind the blog, putting together this kick ass directory. We want to let you know how you can get involved to help make this really special!

Featured Vendor: Pick ‘n’ Mix Circus

As tomorrow is Halloween we have a special featured vendor for you today. We have spoken to Pick ‘n’ Mix Circus‘ Ringmaster Peter Gamble to tell our Halloween brides what they have to offer. But they aren’t just for Halloween- Pick ‘n’ Mix Circus did a wonderful job entertaining the guests at our Cwtchmas Party last December, so if you are planning a Christmas wedding this is for you too, or any time of year you want a circus!

Why have a Halloween Wedding?

Thinking of having a Halloween Wedding? Why not .. think of the venues you could use… that crypt , that old barn, the lovely old village hall or how about Castell Coch ? Think of THAT Back Street Boys video, think of the wedding dance you could have, or Michael Jackson’s Thriller!

Why book Pick ‘n’ Mix Circus?

To set the scene and keep the heads rolling you’ll need the services of Cwtch The Bride’s recommended circus entertainers “Gamble and Wells” from Pick -N- Mix Circus, they’ll bring their friends and you can have:

An 8 ft “Lurch” from The Addams Family to meet and greet your guests, a Red Devil, or The Biker from Hell or fire swords and fire whips with fantastical stilt walkers to loom over your guest serving them a “Blood Sucker” cocktail or a “Morgue-a-Rita” or perhaps served on a ghostly glowing human table.

The fun doesn’t stop there , during the Reception they‘ll teach your guests how to throw a knife to deal with the Zombie hordes or crack a whip to chase the ghoulies away, then glowing fluorescent balloon models and scary close up magic at the tables and then finish you off with a cabaret “More Danger Show” with whip cracking , fire eating, and real knife throwing!

Featured Venue: Lab 22

When you’re a professional working in the wedding industry its very rare you get the opportunity to meet up with other industry peeps unless its in passing at an actual wedding itself. With this in mind, I thought it high time I took a break and convinced some of my favourite wedding professionals to do the same. A mid week social, some cocktails, chat and lots of laughter.

I, along with the talented Cardiff based florist Beth Forbes-Simpson arranged the evening. Beth spoke to the lovely people at Lab 22 and they agreed to host the event for us. So, if you ever wondered what all us wedding professionals get up to on a night out over cocktails…take a look.

In all honesty, I never imagined so many would turn up. But then I thought the same thing when we organised the Cwtchmas Party!
