Groom to Be Diaries: The RAF Grooms are getting somewhere!

Good morning one and all

We have our handsome boys back to talk about how their planning is going! However, it would appear that Cwtchfest is responsible for some extra spending going on! Sorry boys!

Have a read about what else they’ve been up to…..

G2B RAF Grooms

Hey everyone it is us again- the RAF Grooms to be, and I bet that many of the other couples will agree with us in that time is flying by way too quick.

After proposing over a year ago, we only have just over six months to go.  Plus I am 22 this month! #FeelingOld #GettingOld.
James and Mike 3 With us both being so busy over the past few months since our last post, we have barely had much time to plan much together, and when we have it’s been quite rushed. I can’t wait for the day to arrive now to be honest, but I am sure you’re wondering what have those two boys been up to? … so I will tell you…

Well I have ordered my suit (finally). It’s a beautiful blue three piece outfit (but with a twist that I am keeping a secret for Mike to see on the day.) Mike…well he hasn’t even got that far yet. Typical groom leaving it to the last minute.

James and Mike 4

Being the ‘Wife’ (as Mike calls me) I finally have my two maid of honours sorted. I am allowed two because I am not a usual bride to be and it is my wedding after all! The Hag (Hen/Stag) do is finally booked for Ibiza … which is just me and 4 girls going on a boozing holiday! I literally can’t wait. But I am having another one in October for everyone else. It is just an excuse to get some last minute tanning in.

We have sent out the day time invites to our guests, which the RSVPs have started to slowly trickle in, all positive in attendance which is great news. We designed the invites ourselves and only cost us around £25 for them all. They are nothing fancy but we are using an online free website to display all the information and details, and all our guests have to do is log in and follow the details.

James and Mike1

The invitations were all sent out with a wax stamp with our initials on it that we bought during our holiday trip to Venice last year. (They are just like the ones in Hogwarts!- yes I am a Harry Potter Fan). We have even created our own hashtag, where we are are encouraging our guests to post as many photos of the day on Instagram. We have started using it to post our own photos on it too of us together.  Feel free to have a look #JandMDY.

We have bought all our wedding favours too. Mike came up with the idea of individual sweet pick’a’mix jars so we have bought everything apart from the sweets. Mike thinks I will eat them all before the day so we are not buying them just yet.
To be fair he is probably right.

Finally last month we attended Cwtch The Bride’s #Cwtchfest2017 and caught up with our fabulous photographer, Maria Farrelly. Although we only stayed for a couple of hours the event was amazing.

James and Mike 2

The live music being played definitely put you in the mood for a wedding and a party. We met so many stall holders that have given us more food for thought, even getting a few items from LUMI Designs for the big day. Obviously seeing Maria again was great, especially as Mike hadn’t met Maria yet. All three of us got on so well and we definitely felt the enthusiasm, passion and energy she has, so we are super excited to have chosen Maria. It is a great feeling in that we know we have the right person by far to capture our day.  The final part of the day was being attacked with hugs from one of the bubbliest people I’ve ever met – our friend Anna, Features Editor for Cwtch The Bride, and who works with Maria. I swear those two are sisters.

Well fellow bloggers I will leave it at that for the moment……only 6 months now till the BIG DAY!!!

We Stand With Manchester

Manchester

Waking up at 4am to attend to my eldest (something to do with a rabbit chasing him), I got back into bed and checked my phone.

I wish I hadn’t.

The alert on my phone told me that there had been a terror attack at a concert in Manchester.  There were still few details, but you don’t really need to know them at that point.

I watched one of the first videos of live footage, where you can hear the blast, and follows the panic and scream of children, running for their lives.

Children!

We can stand here today and demand strength from ourselves, and say ‘we will not be scared’.  But we’re big, and grown up (mostly).  These victims are children, at a concert of their idol.  Clutching a balloon and running for their loves. They will be scared.  They will be affected.

At times like this, we are all at a loss for words and can do nothing but send out so much love for those poor families who lost someone. The Mums and Dads who were waiting outside to pick up their children, preparing themselves for the onslaught of ‘OMG Its was Ammmaaaaaaazing!’

Certainly not preparing themselves for what actually happened instead.

We are thinking of you. We are thinking of the first responders.

Featured Post: An Alternative to Confetti

Good morning Cwtchers,

Today on the blog we are discussing alternatives to confetti.

With more and more venues refusing the use of confetti, we have put together a few ideas which will work as a great alternative and still look fabulous in photographs!

Featured Post ONLY

Natural Flowers

We will start with most peoples first thoughts of an alternative. A company just over the border – Shropshire petals offers a wide range of natural dried flower petals

Bubbles

Bubbles are a really popular alternative in lots of weddings I have organised.  They especially work well if you have children in your wedding party and gets them involved in the fun.  They can also be tailored to fit in with your colour theme by painting the tubes, attaching ribbon etc

Birdseed

An alternative that feeds our winged friends as well as looking fab in photos and can be personalised.

Wedding Wands

Becoming increasingly popular are wedding wands.  These can co-ordinated in with your colour scheme and can be silent or with little bells so all your guests can ring in your big day.

Biodegradable Confetti

Confetti that dissolves on contact with water- Genius. Whether you wanted ‘snow’ effect cones for a winter wedding or butterflies floating on a summers day this could be a brill eco-friendly option.

Cwtch Of The Week: Penarth Pier Cwtch by Maria Farrelly

Good morning!

We’re back once again with the renegade master, nope, no we’re not. Cwtch of the Week! Thats what we have here. And its a lovely one.  From our fabulous creator, Maria Farrelly, not only is this a delicious cwtch, but its at one of our favourite spots; Penarth Pier.
Over to Maria to tell us all about it.

Its been a while but i’m back… sharing more of my work with all you lovely Cwtchers.

Cwtches can mean so many things to so many people. Here we have one that I adore. I photographed Cary & Ross’s wedding on Penarth Pier back in October. It was a beautiful intimate ceremony followed with fish n Chips and a visit to that fabulous traditional sweet shop.

I took this shot just after finishing some lovely images of them walking along the Pier.  Its was starting to get very cold and I suggested they grab a seat on the bench. Carys instantly began to cwtch into Ross and he naturally opened his arms to warm her up. They didn’t know I took this one. Expressions like this can’t be staged, they just happen. It’s his expression on his face I love the most. She’s so happy and he looks just so damn content. Perfect.

Anna and Richie’s Urban Pre Wedding Shoot

Pre-Wedding Engagement Shoot: Anna & Richie - Newport by Maria Farrelly

I’d like to introduce you to a super cool couple; Anna & Richie. I photographed their wedding back in Sept 2011 and this shoot was taken in and around Newport a few months prior to their big day.

Anna Is a Newport girl and Richie is a Cardiff boy. They met in the Meze Lounge in Newport and now they live in Paradise…I kid you not…the Turks & Caicos Islands to be precise!

They were quite happy for me to choose the locations for this shoot and boy did we have some fun, they were up for anything. I decided to take them to places around Newport that I love, such as The Waterloo  (an amazing hotel & bistro thats right next to the amazing Transporter Bridge!).

I also photographed them in places that had been playing on my mind for a while. Places you see while driving around or sat in traffic, the sort of places you never actually get out of the car to take a proper look at. Anna & Richie went along with all my crazy ideas and added a few of their own too such as ‘planking’.  We had such a great time and laughed so much. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did taking them!

Enjoy x
