We love the idea of having a hen afternoon with your ladies before the hen night allowing young and old to join in your pre-nuptial celebrations.
St Fagan’s Hen afternoons offer the chance for your Hens to choose from a range of activities from their chosen era, including learning how to do the Charleston dance or getting creative with classic crafts and making pom poms, bunting and garlands, and ceramic workshops.
With food and drinks being an important part of any hen party, the afternoon tea dining experience has been carefully prepared by St Fagans’ award winning catering team, Elior. It includes finger sandwiches and a variety of miniature homemade cakes and scones, served with brewed coffee and Welsh brew tea followed by a celebratory glassof fizz.
Great idea and we love to see our Welsh businesses doing something so well!!

Today Cwtchers we have one of our fabulous Lush list members Music For You on the blog with their three top tips for you. But first they explain a little on what they do….
Music for You is run by professional musician Andrew Jones, who has been involved in the industry for in excess of 25 years and who prides himself in providing quality professional musicians, who perform live music, to the very highest standards.
When selecting the type of music you want for your “Special” Day, Andrew understands the importance of getting things just right and will personally talk you through the many options available to you, in order to provide a bespoke service, tailored to your individual needs and tastes.
This will include all aspects of your wedding Day, right from the “big moment” for the arrival of the Bride, the music played during the signing of the Register, the Recessional music as the newly-married Bride and Groom exit the Ceremony, the Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast, through to the Evening Party and the music for the First Dance.
It’s also important to get the right musical combinations to suit your day, which is why Music for You takes time to get to know the Bride and Groom properly and to find out what their particular musical tastes are from the outset. Are there any special pieces of music which you both like? Is there a recurring theme for the Wedding and would you like music that reflects that? Would you also like the musicians dressed in a particular style?
Music for You can offer anything ranging from a Brass Quintet and a team of Fanfare Trumpeters, to a String Quartet and Harpist, right through to a 60’s soul Band and a 15-pice Big Band. The choice is yours.
2. Don’t underestimate the power that music has on your special day – especially live music. The entrance of the Bride is probably one of THE most important moments of your life, so choose your music with that in mind.
3. Remember that it’s your Wedding Day, so if you would like something slightly different to walk down the aisle to, there’s a chance we can do it for you. As our motto goes – “Music for You – it’s just that!
Today Cwtchers we have our fabulous Lush Listers Guest who who do an alternative to the usual photo booth. They have their top 3 tips for brides to be but first they explain a little of what they do so very well…
In a nutshell we (Dylan and Leanne) provide a lightweight, pop-up mobile studio, a fresh alternative to the usual photo booths, you know the ones we mean (black box.. in the corner of room… 4 people in like sardines…)
We like to think that the ‘Guest Who’ Photo Booth has a touch of the handmade, DIY quality that fits in with many current wedding styles, but with all the professionalism of a commercial photo booth machine.
Whatever theme or style you have for your wedding, we can incorporate it into the booth…. you could say that we are style chameleons!
Based in South Wales, but we do travel all over the UK, Guest Who prides itself on being more personal than all the ‘others’.
We love crazy prop requests (we make specific signs for in jokes, phrases) in addition to the usual Photo booth sayings, we source specific prop requests (provided we can get it) to the needs of the happy couple.
We do all this through a meeting (ideally at the venue) prior to the event… just to iron out all the info, such as timings, so we don’t bring in our stuff in the middle of the grooms (or Brides) speech, where the booth will go (so we don’t set up in the middle of the buffet area) and any other issues… But also, its great to put a names to faces.
Our top 3 tips for Brides
1. Get involved in the speeches. Why let tradition dictate
2. Take flat shoes for the evening so you can dance all night
3. Hire a Photo booth, your guests will love it, especially ours
The Helen Rhiannon Designer Label is based in Swansea, on the edge of the beautiful Gower Peninsula. The label is run by 34 year old Helen Rhiannon Gill, an award winning designer, who designs and hand makes the dresses so they can proudly display ‘Handmade in Wales’ on the woven label.
The Helen Rhiannon Designer Label has recently just celebrated 10 years in business. The anniversary saw a sophisticated evening of celebration with a selection of the most memorable dresses on display along with the most recent Bridalwear collection.
In 2013, Helen won the ‘Best Designer’ award in the Welsh Fashion and Beauty Awards and was also a finalist in the Welsh National Wedding Awards under the Best Bridal designer category. In 2014, Helen scooped the ‘Best Independent Bridal Designer’ award at the Welsh National Wedding Awards.
Over the last 10 years, Helen has worked on a huge range of projects from prom dresses, to National Costumes for pageants, bespoke dresses for Cardiff Singer of the World finalist, Natalya Romaniw, and also the international opera star, Katherine Jenkins.
With a love of making beautiful, timeless dresses, Helen decided to specialise in Bridalwear and launched Helen Rhiannon Bridal in 2010. With a reputation for quality and perfection, the label has grown extensively and Helen continues to make classic, sophisticated dresses for the bride who wants something truly unique and handmade in Wales.
If a bride chooses to have their own unique dress designed and handmade from scratch by Helen, then they will embark on a truly wonderful journey. Their wedding dress will be the only one in existence and the bride will play a big part in the design and fabrics, making it a unique and memorable experience.
The Helen Rhiannon Designer Label is also exclusively stocked in the Rachel Burgess Bridal Boutique, in Penarth. The boutique stocks a collection of over twelve dresses. Each dress is based on flattering silhouettes and made up in a range of carefully picked satins and lace with delicate trims and finishes to complete the overall timeless look. Brides also have the option to have their dress handmade by Helen from start to finish.
Top Tips if you choose to have your dress designed and made in Wales.
Even if you know what you want, always go and try on a few wedding dresses as it is such a different dress to anything you have in your wardrobe. Try on a wide range of styles as the style you may think will suit you, may not be the one!
If you have a dress designed to fit you, then there is no need to crash diet. The dress is being made to fit you, not you fitting the dress. The right dress should fit you comfortably and flatter you in all of the right ways.
Invest in comfortable and well fitted underwear as then you will feel fantastic on the inside as well as look amazing on the outside!

Maria Farrelly is one of Wales’ leading wedding photographers. She is also the creator of this damn fine blog, Cwtch The Bride.
Every year, Maria takes on a limited number of weddings. They vary in size, style, location and budget. One common thread however is that each and every client adores her work.
What draws so many to Maria’s work is her ability to really capture the essence of a person and those special moments found in a smile, touch or kiss. Coupled with her friendly and easy going nature her clients are instantly relaxed in her company which gives her the ability to capture such natural images.
