Merry Cwtchmas, Everyone!

Designed by the wonderful Slightly Wobbly Designs!

Dear Readers,

Well, what can we say about 2013?! Possibly the only way to sum it up is to say: we’ve had an absolute blast! We’ve absolutely loved every minute of our rollercoaster ride this year, from our first post to winning a Welsh Wedding Award and throwing an absolutely incredible launch party! (more on that in the new year…)

With just over 200 posts on the blog now, we just wanted to let you know that Cwtch the Bride will be taking a little break over the festive period to recharge our batteries and enjoy some time with our family and friends (hopefully with lots of chocolates and Christmas films on the telly, too). Don’t worry, we won’t be gone for long – we’ll be back on the 30th of December with a full week of inspiring posts to welcome in the new year with a bang!

So, what does 2014 hold for Cwtch the Bride? More gorgeous Real Weddings, more fantastic featured vendors and a push towards making this the biggest, best and brightest wedding blog in Wales (we might even give some of the national blogs a run for their money ;) )

We wouldn’t have made it this far without you all so we just want to say a massive…

thank-you

To everyone who has ever read the blog, shared a post on FB, retweeted us, emailed us, sponsored the blog – we love each and every one of you! Your support for our little adventure is so, so appreciated. Three cheers for all of you!

Sending a massive, humungous, couldn’t get any bigger cwtch from us to you…

Merry Cwtchmas, everyone! :)

Love from

The Cwtch the Bride Team xx

Invitation designed by Something Kinda Cute

Well we are! :) & guess what: you can come too! To be held in Cardiff on the 11th December 2013, with the help of wedding planners extraordinaire, Finesse Planning, we are working closely with some of Wales’ leading wedding suppliers to bring you an evening of celebration, inspiration and entertainment.

Plus theres a goody bag at the end of it, and lets face it, we all LOVE a good goody bag, right?! :)

A night at the Museum

Having teased many of our Facebook & Twitter followers over the past few weeks asking them to guess the venue. I don’t think many of them realised the scale of this event. Hint: it’s big!

So you can imagine how thrilled we are to finally reveal that the amazing National Museum Cardiff is hosting our party, whoo hoo! We kid you not.

National Museum Cardiff is licensed for weddings. How cool is that?! If you are yet to find your dream wedding venue, this place deserves a good look. It oozes style and glamour and is steeped in Welsh history. What better way to visualise this for your wedding than to see it dressed to impress? :)

As an extra treat Museum staff will be on hand during our event to meet with interested couples and to show them around, so if you’d like a tour then you’re in luck!

The team at Elior UK, the Museum’s in-house catering experts, will be serving welcome drinks and canapés throughout the evening. Their food is amazing -we’ve tasted a selection of their canapés already; you lot are in for such a treat. They create an evolving seasonal menu that incorporates the finest, locally sourced Welsh ingredients that deliver exquisite flavour combinations and presentation. Thats a win win in our book!

We also have a great line up of live entertainment to get our party in full swing plus even more (we’re about to burst with excitement here!) More details coming soon.

So, how do I get my hands on an invitation?

This is an invitation-only event. You need to register your details on our waiting list (see below), and if you’re added to the guest list you’ll receive an official e-invite from the Cwtch team :)  It’s a big space but number are limited, so if you’d like to come then make sure you register! There will be security on the door and if your name isn’t on the list then you can’t attend – sorry! (If you’d like to bring a plus one just let us know :) )

Tutorial: How To Subscribe To Cwtch The Bride

We’ve been going for a few months now, so we thought we’d put together a little tutorial on how to subscribe to the blog (we know that we’ve got a few regular readers!) to make it a bit easier for you to get your daily dose of Cwtch! :)

There are three ways you can subscribe to us. First up:

1. Subscribe by email

This is probably the easiest way to make sure you don’t miss any of our posts – have them sent directly to your inbox! :) On the right hand side of the blog you’ll see our sidebar – this is where you can browse our categories, check out our lovely blog sponsors (hi guys!) and also search the site if you’re looking for something specific.

To subscribe to the blog just look for the section on the right that looks like this:

How to subscribe to the blog by email

pop your email address in and click subscribe – easy peasy!

Once you’ve subscribed, every time we publish a post it’ll arrive in your inbox looking  a little something like this…

You’ll get the full post in your inbox, with a link at the bottom to come to the comment section – handy if you have something you’re dying to say! (We love getting comments so please don’t be shy! :) )

The only thing you’ll miss out on if you only read our posts via email and don’t come to the site is the galleries we sometimes add (like in this post from Stephanie Allen) and any videos we link to. For some reason they don’t want to show up in the emails, we’re not sure why. Just click the title of the post (in the blue) in the email to be taken to the website and you’ll be able to see all the content! :)

2. Subscribe to our feed

Secondly, you can subscribe to our blog feed using a number of options – this is called RSS. One of the most popular platforms to use is Bloglovin’, but you can also use websites like Feedly. (If you’ve heard of Google Reader these programs do the same job now that Google Reader has sadly retired).

Subscribing to our feed is relatively simple – if you already have an account with an RSS reader (that’s what they’re called for people not in the know!) then just add www.cwtchthebride.com as a subscription (or click here to follow on Bloglovin’) and voila, all our posts will be there waiting for you whenever we update. If you don’t have an account already then you can sign up to Bloglovin’ here or Feedly here. You can use them to keep track of as many blogs as you want and they both have smartphone apps. Handy!

3. Follow us via social media

Thirdly, we always post the links to our new content on our Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest feeds, so you can always follow us there to make sure you see our new content :) We also post other content on those channels so they’re worth following even if you already subscribe by email or RSS.

You can find us on Twitter at @cwtchthebride

Our Facebook link is here

& we have lots (and lots!) of boards on Pinterest for all of you guys who are in the midst of wedding planning to browse here.

Et voila! Three simple ways of keeping up to date will all things Cwtch :) let us know in the comments if you have any other suggestions!

A Valentine’s Day Proposal

Its ten years to the day since my husband proposed to me. I was eight months pregnant at the time (with our first child) and stood impatiently on my doorstep having been on my feet in work for over 10 hrs and had forgotten my keys. I was waiting for him to open the door.

When he did, he was stood there wearing a tuxedo and holding a huge bunch of roses with a big smile on his face. Instantly, I felt nervous. He’d never done anything like this before.  As he led me into the living room, I couldn’t believe it, he’d filled the whole room with candles, I was speechless (and for those that know me well, that rarely happens). He continued to lead me through to the dining room where a fabulous three course meal was waiting to be served.  Initially he took full credit for the meal but I later discovered his mother had helped him! Still- I was enjoying the whirl-wind of romance and nothing was going to spoil it.

After the meal, I noticed him getting edgy. He stood up and put his hand in his pocket. Please note- at this point I was looking pretty rough after such a long day in work, I was heavily pregnant, my face was all puffy and I felt in no way attractive. However, he got down on one knee, told me I was beautiful and asked me to marry him.

I cried. lots. And said yes (of course!)

Ten years on, happily married with two beautiful children, I sit here writing this post and wondering what he has planned for this evening. He has only worn that tuxedo on two other occasions, the evening of our wedding (We had a black tie cocktail party) and the National Welsh Wedding Awards last year (where I won best regional wedding photographer for the second consecutive year). I wonder if he’ll surprise me in it tonight?

This post is dedicated to all of those lovely people that have had the pleasure of being proposed to and are now in the throws of planning their wedding in Wales.

Welcome to Cwtch the Bride!
